Antbear Lodge is a luxury eco-lodge experience that offers 15 individual units.
Each of the units is different and separate from each other creating a feeling of privacy. Units are either en-suite doubles, family units or luxury suites. Their most unique accommodation is the luxury cave which blends into its environment to create an atmosphere of privacy and seclusion - and is now enclosed for dogs.
Although all units are pet-friendly, only 3 are enclosed. One of these enclosed units is the Garden View Suite (unit 10) which offers it's own fully fenced-in garden. There is also a Mountain View Suite (unit 8) and the romantic, Luxury Cave experience to choose from.
The Lodge offers a full-board experience. This means you don't have to worry about making, or bringing along any food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is catered and included in the nightly rate. You'll just need to bring your own food for your dog(s). Each unit is however equipped with a mini-fridge should you feel the need to bring something extra along, as well as tea/coffee making trays.
All meals are served in the main lodge restaurant area, but if you'd prefer a private dining experience in your unit, this can be arranged on request.
Sustainability and responsible tourism are a huge part of the ethos of this owner-run lodge and they subscribe as much as possible to the "farm-to-table" concept. All their meals are freshly prepared with produce from the organic vegetable garden and farm, including eggs and milk. Freshly baked bread is served daily, and they even make their own cheese.
The Luxury Cave Suite is a tastefully decorated en-suite bedroom with a Jacuzzi spa bath adjoining a lounge with open fireplace. A private luxury suite ideal for a romantic getaway. comfortable accommodation and includes a bedroom with a queen size bed, an en-suite bathroom which includes a Jacuzzi spa bath and a separate shower. A super uniqie experience, the unit is built under a rock - hence its name. Like all caves, it maintains an even temperature, being neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter, an ideal year-round experience. There is even rock art on the walls of the cave! Glass doors open on to a deck with hammock chairs and an uninterrupted panoramic view of more than of the Drakensberg Mountains.
Antbear offers many hiking trails and off-lead roaming for your dogs. You can easily enjoy hikes for up to 2 hours on the property.
