Keurkloof is the ideal place to really get away from it all. Set in the vast Karoo landscape, the self-catering cottage, located on a working farm, is far from the nearest neighbours, offering complete privacy. The rustic appearance of the cottage, built in the typical Karoo style, belies the well-appointed and tastefully decorated interior.
The cottage has three bedrooms (one of which has a single bed), and an open-plan living area, leading out onto a large shaded stoep, where one can enjoy the fresh air and expansive views. The second bedroom with twin beds has an en-suite, and the main bathroom, with old Victorian bath, is shared.
Electricity free, your stay at Keurkloof Cottage will remind you of a gentler, unhurried time with the soft glow of eco-friendly solar lights and a Jetmaster fireplace to keep you warm on cold winter nights.
The kitchen is very well equipped and fitted with gas appliances, including stove and fridge. The hot water for the bathroom, which features a Victorian bath and shower, is also heated by gas. A built-in braai on the stoep provides an alternative for preparing meals.
Enjoy the cool outdoor shower under the pepper tree or a swim in the whitewashed farm reservoir, very refreshing on hot summer days!
Bed linen and bath towels are provided. Please bring firewood and your own swimming towels.
Small game like duiker, meerkat, tortoises and other reptiles and insects are plentiful. The farm also has resident herds of Springbok and Rhebok. Birding is excellent and the riverbeds, dams and sheep drinking troughs provide good opportunities.
For those that like to fly in with Fido, Keurkloof has its own registered landing strip for light aircraft, right behind the cottage.
