Overall Pet-Safe Rating: 2
We have rated Goodwill Villa a 2/5 for pet-safety. Unfortunately the Villa is not enclosed, but it scored points as it is so remote. Deep in the mountains, there is no one else around, and no other dogs. When you are outside with your dogs you can let them run off-leash - however, as it is a farm in the mountains there are plenty of wildlife around, including a troop of baboons that visit daily. It also scored a point as, due to the presence of baboons, one has to keep the doors closed whilst at the Villa - so technically the dogs are inside all the time, unless out on walks. There is also an enclosure around the dam side of the house - but there is no place to potty on that side.
Grounds: Open farmland.
Enclosed: No. However, as you need to keep all doors closed whilst at the Villa, it is technically safe. The dam area also has a small enclosure.
Other dogs: Yes - however they live at the main property which is quite far away, and they don't roam to the Villa. There might be other people enjoying walks on the mountain hikes, and they could have dogs. The troop of baboons was a littler more concerning, however they only seem to visit the area in the afternoons.
Walking dogs on property: Yes, but we recommend leash around farm buildings and animals. There are also horses and riders present - unless your dog has a strong recall, we would recommend using leashes, or long leashes whilst exploring further away from the Villa.
Would we leave our dogs alone and go to the shop? Although the owners are fine with well-behaved dogs being left alone in the property we would not recommend it and suggest you rather take them with you.
Lowest fence height: None.
Highest fence height: None.
Fence material: None. At the dam side, it is a glass perimeter.
