Hoephoep Cottage is one of 10 cottages located in a larger 500ha (very dog friendly) farm called Saamrus, the ideal getaway for nature lovers and hikers or romantic couples looking for seclusion. The farm is situated in a woodland valley between a tranquil stream and the foothills of the ancient Magaliesberg Mountains.
Each cottage has a unique character, with every convenience to make your stay more comfortable and memorable. Most of the cottages are at least 50m apart, except Tarentaal and Kiewiet which are about 15m apart. Reeds and hedges are used for screening to give the feeling of maximum privacy and seclusion.
Please note that some areas of this farm, and six of the cottages, are only accessible by 4x4. Hoephoep cottage is accessible by car.
Hoephoep is a spacious, 1 bedroom, private cottage at the foot of the hill close to the river walks. Lovely veld grass and flowers decorate the meadow near the cottage in summer. The stoep facing the meadow and thick bush behind makes Hoephoep a lovely spot for bird watching and relaxing.
The main bedroom has a king-size bed, and airy french doors onto the veranda. Two extra single divan beds can be prepared for extra guests (or kids) sleeping in the lounge.
French doors open from the open plan living room / kitchen / dining room to the patio and private braai area. Hoephoep cottage also has a firepit next to the braai area.
The kitchen is fully equipped including: fridge, microwave, two-plate gas stove, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery, dishwashing liquid and dishcloths. Braai utensils are also supplied.
If you're staying in cooler days, there is a fireplace inside the lounge to keep you cosy at night. Ceiling fans or loose-standing fans are provided for warmer weather.
One full bathroom with shower and a very special, unique bath! Bird watching can be done from the bath, as the romantic cement bath is right against the window with a magical view of the forest. The shower is over the bath. For the sake of privacy, the bathroom is off the passage, with doors closing off both the bedroom and living room. Towels, soap, air freshener and toilet paper are supplied.
If you'd like to watch TV, there are DSTV access points in all cottages, however you will need to bring your own decoder and card .
Extra firewood is available for sale on the premises, which will be deliver to your cottage.
